Hello

Hi, my name is Mike and being the astute individuals that you are, you may be able to tell that I am a big fan of video games, whether they involve saving virtual worlds, collecting gold rings, nailing headshots, or level-grinding.  Yet, video games are more than the hack and slash of melee weapons, or the meaty thud of that awesome Magnum from Halo: Reach, as they provide players with the opportunity to enter fantastic universes where anything is possible.

Some may crudely call this escapism, but I believe that for gamers, playing your favourite title should be a perpetual experience.  This is, of course, becoming an increasingly viable opportunity, as the growth of online gameplay and the constant draw of playing with gamers from the other side of the world, either competitively or co-operatively, is doing much to prolong the lifecycles of our favourite titles.  But I believe that there is more to video games than owning fools on Xbox Live, or over the Playstation Network, as all the best releases that I have played have provided me with an experience.  For instance, I can always recall the first moment I entered the vast Hyrule field in the Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, or that moment I discovered that I was Darth Revan in Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic.  I can even remember the guilt I felt when I let Kaiden Alenko die on Virmire in Mass Effect.

Thus, combining my hobby with my passion for writing, and of course, the marvels of the internet, I have created a platform to report on video games, write reviews, and share opinions.  Therefore, all that is left for me to say is that I hope you enjoy what is written on this blog, and to remember that any opinion expressed is my own, and that if you don’t like it, pretend that you do.

Peace, love, and stat-progression
                Mike.
